Spring 2024

What does whole-hearted service to the Lord look like? How can I best put aside my own expectations and desires in pursuit of gospel expansion? These questions, in some capacity, have been journeying through my mind of late. When gospel service has been on the horizon for so long, it can be disorienting when it doesn't quite look how you expect it to. Writing these updates is a blessing in that it forces one to take five steps back and be reminded that God is sovereign, and service to Him looks however He deems it to look!

The last three, busy months have been packed with variety for the both of us. Some highlights have included CWCI Safari for me (Michael), a new cohort of students commencing training and another trip to Vanuatu for Naomi.

CWCI Safari

I was very lucky to be able to spend a week in August flying some ladies from CWCI (Christian Women Communicating International) on their Cape Yorke safari. In that time, we visited a number of communities where the ladies encouraged the local Christian women.

A short video about our time away

Prior to embarking.

It was amazing to see how quickly the terrain changed as we headed north.

New Cohort

As is often the case around the middle of the year, we have had a new cohort of students start their flight training. I quite enjoy the change in atmosphere brought around by the injection of new and different personalities into the already bustling culture around the FTC. Below is a video of Ezra, one of the new students from Singapore.

Naomi's World

As I write this, Naomi is in Vanuatu on another mission trip. A group from the Tablelands go back yearly (sometimes twice a year) to work with a medical team based on the island of Santo. Naomi is helping out with the youth that have gone over, and running children's programs in local schools and villages. Stay tuned to hear all about it!

Prayer

Here are some ways you can be praying for us this month:

  • Pray that Naomi's trip to Vanuatu runs without any hiccoughs, and existing relationships will continue to be strengthened.

  • Please pray for the training load at the Training Centre, with some instructors away on home assignment in the coming months.

  • Give thanks for continued safe operations in Mareeba, and pray for the progress of the new cohort of students.

That's all this quarter! May the Lord continue to be working in your lives as you seek to do His will.

In Christ,

Michael
