Summer update 2025

The last three months - and 2025 itself - have held many blessings, along with some challenges. As is often the case, it has been helpful to reflect on these happenings as we journey into next year.

Arnhem Land Safari (again)

In early November, three students and I embarked on another Arnhem Land safari. It was special to spend a few days with the team in Gove, especially as we look to move there and join them next April.

We left Karumba at 3:00am, encountering a full moon and some amazing cloud formations.

It was great to be able to fly with Timothee while in Arnhem Land. Tim was my first ever student and has been flying the line since May.

On the weekend we were there, some of the students were able to fly out to a homeland community for outreach with a few people from the MAF team. They had a BBQ along with songs and scripture readings.

CPL Ramp-up

After safari, it was time to jump straight into CPL ramp-up. This is a period of about a week where our commercial students hone their skills and prepare for their flight test. It is a particularly fun week for instructors, as we get to simulate all kinds of abnormal situations!

Naomi's World

The past few months have brought a change of pace for me and I've loved staying at home with Flossie. We've had many visits from family members and friends, and it's been special to see them interact with our baby girl. Though I miss the people at Jubilee (where I worked for 3.5 years), I'm thankful to be able to spend my days looking after Flossie. We enjoy going to a mums group with other young women and little people each week, as well as Bible study. Flossie and I also frequent libraries, op shops and walking trails! As is often the case with parenthood, the days aren't always easy and they can feel long at times; however, the weeks fly by! Flossie brings much joy to us (and the people she meets) with her infectious smile and cute giggles. If you haven't already, we hope you can meet her one day soon!

A Flourish of Florence

Flossie has loved her first four months of life (as far as we can tell anyway)!

So with that we'd like to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year! May the peace that surpasses all understanding be upon you as you ponder the glorious gift that is new life in Christ.

With love,

Michael, Naomi and Flossie
